This blogs for you, Caitlin & Jared

My kids have been caught several times this month calling my "pre-motherhood" life the "OLD DAYS". They seem to have funny ideas of what the world was like when I was a kid or even a newlywed. I am often explaining that we did drive cars, telephones were invented (just connected to the wall by the curly cords), and tv was in color! This afternoon Caitlin and I were on our way home from Costco when she asked me why I wasn't using a GPS.

ME: "Uh, I know my way home."

CAITLIN: "No, mom! I mean why do you NEVER use a GPS? You always use MapQuest instead."

ME: "I guess because I don't have a GPS, it belongs to Daddy."

CAITLIN: "Yeah, but I asked him why he doesn't share it with you. He said you don't like to use it." (RATS! So much for a simple answer. But, it's true I hate that there is always a new gadget to figure out!)

ME: "Well, I don't. It's just easier for me to print out a map than have to figure out how to use a new gadget."

CAITLIN: "Mom, you need to get used to it! We live in an age of electronics, you're not a kid anymore!"

Okay, I guess I need to blow out the candle, put the feather pen and bottle of ink away and figure out how to join the rest of the world in the twenty-first century. It's not as if I am computer illiterate! Geeesh!! So, this blogs for you, Caitlin (and Jared). What a perfect way to keep a life record as well as share our lives with family and friends. And I have to say that it does feel nice to try something new! I think I'm going to like living in the twenty-first century!
